Tactical Grace

This plane has taken over a year to build, but that includes a nine month break. It is built on a plane bought from vth.de called "Das Bunte Huhn".

The plan is supplied entirely in German. Vth supplied me with a German to English Model Airplane Builders dictionary but even with that I could only translate 60% of the instructions. I tried the online translation engines like freetranslations.com but the results were just as intelligible as the original but with English words. I guess all technical writing is hard to translate with real knowledge of the subject.

The other problem I had with the instructions is that they seemed to be intentionally vague. For example in describing how to build the curved wingtips the instructions are something like: "Make use of the curved jig to build the wingtips". Okay, maybe it's not that vague but after my inept translation that's all I could get out of it.

Anyway it has all worked out very nicely and I am quite happy with the results, only hope I don't mess it up with the covering. I'm planning on using "Dave Brown's Skyloft" it's an artificial silk substitute, supposed to have the same properties as silk but be easier to work with and lighter. I've never done any silk covering so we'll see ...
